Correspondence AN IMPROVED HOT-WIRE GLASS CUTTER I was surprised to find that Baker and Haldeman, in their description of "An Improved Hot-wire Glass Cutter" in the October issue of the JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL EDUCATION, state that their cutter cannot be used for Pyrex glass. I have been using a cutter similar to this for the last two years and have consistently cut Pyrex glass tubing up to two inches in diameter. All that is necessary is to have a saatch (preferably made with a glass knife) running clear around the tube, and then, when the circumference has been weU heated with the wire, drop on the saatch a little water from a pipet.
