Classified Section Princeton University Postdoctoral Fellowships Princeton Environmental Institute Princeton University seeks interdisciplinary scholars for the Princeton Environmental Institute (PEI) Fellows Program. Postdoctoral fellowships will be offered to exceptional candidates with Ph.D. in relevant fields of science and engineering. Research will encompass the global carbon cycle, carbon mitigation science and technology, global change, biodiversity, global hydrology and various aspects of molecular environmental science. ANALYTICAL CHEMIST The Department of Geochemistry of the Earth Sciences Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory seeks an individual to manage, operate and maintain the California Department of Health's Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) and inorganic and organic analytical chemistry facility (Environmental Measurements Laboratory, or EML) in support of research conducted at LBNL and UC-Berkeley. This will involve staff recruitment and supervision; analytical methods research and development; review and synthesis of data; sample analysis; oversight of equipment and instrument maintenance; and writing reports, proposals, papers, and conference presentations. To qualify, candidates must have extensive experience operating a certified CA Dept. of Health Services (ELAP) inorganic and organic analytical facility, extensive experience and knowledge of standard chemical techniques and in environmental chemistry (both lab and field settings), substantial experience working with EPA Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste, Physical/Chemical methods, and SW-846. Experience in design, development and implementation of new analytical methods and techniques is also required. Candidates must also be experienced in using the following analytical equipment: atomic absorption spectrophotometer; inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma source mass spectrometers (ICP-MS) with laser ablation capabilities; and GS/MS ion chromatography. Postdoctoral position in Environmental Chemistry/Harvard University. Candidates should be Ph.D. chemists or chemical engineers who have no previous experience in Environmental Chemistry and who seek to receive training in this area. The position is supported as part of the Dreyfus Postdoctoral Program in Environmental Chemistry. The successful candidate may work on an array of possible projects in biogeochemistry, laboratory and in situ measurements of reactions of free-radicals, liquid-phase and heterogeneous chemistry (including atomic force microscopy studies of mineral dissolution), and computer simulations and modeling of interactions between atmospheric chemistry and climate.
