Announcing a new, low-priced Hydroxy MethacrylateHydroxy Methacrylate

HPMA-40%

Rohm & Haas HPMA-40%, a solution of hydroxypropyl methacrylate (40%) and methacrylic acid (6%) in xylene, is the most economical source of acrylic monomer containing a hydroxy 1 group. Use of HPMA-40% in place of a solvent-free grade of hydroxy acrylic monomer in the preparation of a typical thermosetting acrylic resin for auto enamels can lead to a saving of 3 to 6 cents per pound of resin produced. The methacrylic acid in HPMA-40%, when intro-

duced into a copolymer, generally enhances the adhesion properties of coating films. In addition to HPMA-40%, Rohm & Haas offers Hydroxypropyl Methacrylate-96% and Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate-96%. All are available as commercial products. As already indicated, hydroxy methacrylates-copolymerized with other acrylic monomersmay be useful in preparing thermosetting acrylic resins for formulating coatings applied to automo-

biles, appliances, aluminum siding, and a variety of other surfaces.

Write to Dept. SP-32 for technical literaturef and samples of HPMA-hO% or other hydroxy methacrylates offered by Rohm & Haas.
