C , reports the determination of precise reference wave lengths to be used for calibration in infrared analysis. Laboratory measure ments have been made of the emission spectra of hot gases. These results will be useful in determining the average temperature and partial pressure of atmospheric constituents. Another aspect of the Bureau's spec troscopic research program is the study of emittance properties of solids which must be known in order to plan and design temperature control systems for satellites and space probes. This office will maintain liaison with government agencies doing business with the com pany.
