Polisher

Λ new metallographic polisher per mits the simultaneous a u t o m a t i c dia mond polishing of six samples from L'A" to 2" in diameter. E x t r a a d a p t e r s are available to accommodate smaller samples. T h e polisher can be equipped with wheels ranging to 12" in diameter. Automatic lubrication is provided the -ample mover and t h e samples are readily exchanged. William .1. H a c k e r .V Co., Inc.. P . O . Box 040, West Cald well. N . . I. 431

MEASURE ΔρΗ TO 0.0005 UNITS with Cary Model 31 Vibrating Reed Electrometer

X-ray fluorescence is used to analyze one to six elements simultaneously with this new instrument. Featuring fixed channel optics, the instrument can analyze elements in the atomic scale from titanium upward. The turn table accommodates 12 sample holders which will accept solids, liq uids, slurries, or powders. The standard sample cell will hold a IV4" diameter specimen. Operation of the unit can be by fixed count or fixed time. The system is supplied with an x-ray generator, an x-ray tube with a tungsten target, and flat crystal optics including source and detector collimators, fixed crystal, and radia tion detector. Λ new ratio iluorometer is available which, after a two-step calibration oper ate-; without further adjustment. T h e fluorescence ratio can be read directly from a meter, or can lie recorded by conneci.ing the instrument to any 100 mv. poteiitiomelric recorder. The -ample basket, holds eight samples; minimum -ample size is 1.3 ml. volt— especially important with easily polarized high resist ance electrodes. Drift is only 0.002 pH units per day, as suming constant temperature. Other uses for the Model 31 include radioactivity measurements (detects C14 activity to 5x10~15 curies per mg BaC0 3 ) and mass spectrometry (de tects ion currents small as 10~17 amperes), APPLIED PHYSICS CORPORATION 2 7 2 4 SOUTH PECK ROAD · MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA
