MS 9 opens up new fields of discovery in organic chemistry The MS9 double focusing high resolution mass spectro meter was specially designed for the examination of organic compounds. Its accuracy of mass measurement, a few parts in a million, makes it possible to obtain more precise structural information on heavy organic com pounds than ever before. Field experience with this instrument has shown that the initial claims for its performance were far too modest. For instance, on the 10% valley basis, resolution exceeding 25,000 can be achieved. A new sample insertion lock is now available which enables non volatiles to be evaporated directly into the ion source. Sample throughput is speedier and the effects of thermal decomposition virtually eliminated. We would like to tell you more about this equipment, so please write for a leaflet.

Type QV-50 Absorption spectrophotometry is now widely used in the chemical, medical and metal indu strial fields. The Type Q V - 5 0 Shimadzu Photoelectric Spec trophotometer has a Littrow type Monochromator utilizing a fused silica optical system and 1 8 2 ~ 1,200 m/i spectral range. It can be evacuated by a vacuum pump for measure ment in the extreme ultraviolet region down to 182 m/i.
