T h e State Health D e p a r t m e n t recently a d o p t e d regulation in its Sanitary Code covering protection of personnel in hospitals, d e n t a l offices, and similar establishments. T h e t w o codes will complement each other to cover most peacetime uses of radiation. T h e code i the culmination of a two-year s t u d y by a 2 6 - m a n Labor D e partment advisory commiitee. The code w e n t through 12 drafts before being considered b y t h e board, and was the subject of seven public hearings before t h a t body p r e c e d i n g final a d o p tion. It becomes effective Dec. 15. Principal requirements are:

In JAMA, Oct. 15, they tell of two patients who suffered chronic carbon disulfide poisoning from working in rayon plants. They were exposed to slightly over 20 p.p.rn., yet ttie poisonings were not discovered for 10 years.
