BECCO M E T Y L PEROXIDE SOLUTION Chemists of the Buffalo Electro-Chemical Company, Inc., have developed a process for making solutions o f acetyl p e r o x i d e w h i c h are p e r f e c t l y safe to handle. It is a 30 per cent solution o f acetyl peroxide in d i n i e t h y l p h t h a l a t e , w a t e r w h i t e , nonexplosive and immune to shock and impact. T h e acetyl peroxide solution is of value as a polymerization agent. Other interesting applications include its use as a non-aqueous oxidizing agent, as a modifying agent for oils and possibly as a germicide. It has great possibilities in organic synthesis, offering a source of h i g h l y reactive free radicals.
