A t a n n e r c o u l d tell y o u w h a t can happen when sodium sulfide picks up iron. W h e n this happens in a tannery, the leather is likely to develop blue blotches. T h i s gives u s close control of its composition. 2. W e never re-use a sulfide drum. You receive every shipment i n b r a n d new containers. 3. E v e r y drum is lacquer-lined t o prevent iron contamination. 4. Six sturdy lugs hold the d r u m lid tight during handling and storage. T h e y ' r e h a n d y for re-sealing the d r u m , too. 5. W e individually lacquer t h e lid of every drum, to m a k e a n airtight seal that keeps the product a t full strength. T h e clean, strong flakes dissolve right into process, even without stirring. N o waiting; no decanting. You've probably gathered b y now that sodium sulfide, at Hooker, is a specialty of the house. You're right. And that's a good reason w h y you stand t o get maximum satisfaction with ours.
T h e flake form is shipped in 90-lb. and 350-lb. drums. Solid form comes in 625-lb. drums. W h y not order a trial quantity? Better pH control What we said about sulfides also goes for Hooker sodium sulfhydrate, with this important difference: Some processors axe switching t o our sulfhydrate, as a replacement for sodium sulfide. Why? W h e n sulfhydrate goes into solution, it forms less caustic soda than does sodium sulfide. Only half a s much, in fact. So these processors a r e able to get more sulfidity, with less a l k a l i n i t y , b y using s u l f h y d r a t e . Maybe there's an idea here for your processing operations, if high pH is a problem in sulfide solutions. Hooker sodium sulfhydrate dissolves rapidly, even in cold water.
