Better Temperature Control ...Increased Production
The directors of Air Reduction Co., Inc., have declared the regular quarterly divi dend of 25 cents per share on the common stock, payable since April 26. Capital investment during 1948 by Cities Service subsidiaries will total approximately $145 million as compared with $96 million in 1947. Commercial Solvents Corp. reports for the quarter ended March 31a consolidated net profit of $2,013,481, equal to 76 cents a share on 2,636,878 shares. Consolidated net income of Freeport Sulphur Co. for the three months ended March 31 amounted to $874,672, equivalent to'$1.09 per share on the 800,000 shares of common stock outstanding. Harbison-Walker Refractories Co. re ports net earnings including subsidiaries for the quarter ending March 31 estimated at $1,178,761. This is equivalent, after dividend requirements on the 6% pre ferred stock, to 84 cents per share on the shares of no par common stock outstand ing. Heyden Chemical Corp. reported net earnings for the first quarter of 1948 of $1,800,656, a 54% increase over the 1947 earnings for the same period. This is equal to 92 cents per share on the out standing $1 par value common stock. Sales of the consolidated companies of Monsanto Chemical Co. for the first quar ter of the year amounted to $38,473,744, an increase of 6% over 1947. The Paraffine Cos., Inc., reported a total profit for the three months ended March 31 of $857,510.07. This is equal to 57 cents per share of common stock. Rayonier, Inc., shows first quarter sales of $15,406,987 and net income of $2,460,679, representing $2.16 earned per share of common stock.
