NEW CHEMICALS Five isocyanates have been added to the line of Ott Chemical, Muskegon, Mich. The new products are m-, p-, and o-chlorophenyl isocyanate, and 2,5- and 3,4-dichlorophenyl isocyanate. m-Chlorophenyl isocyanate is available in tonnage quantities; the other four are available in development quantities. All are intermediates for carbamates, ureas, and carboxylic acid amides. C1
A new straight polyvinyl chloride resin has been developed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Akron, Ohio. Pliovac S-75 can be processed from a powder blend and is designed for calendered vinyl film and sheeting, homogeneous and laminated vinyl flooring, shoe heels,
and other injection molded items, Goodyear says. Compounds made with the new resin are easily mixed, flow rapidly, and use less plasticizer, the company adds. C2
Hollow spheres of high density Teflon come from Chemplast, Inc., East Newark, N.J. Sizes range from 20 to 100 mm. in diameter. Chemplast sees uses for the balls in flow meters, float valves, float level indicators, and ball check valves in corrosive service. C 3
