Changes in Langmuir
L
angmuir is entering its 28th year in 2012. Our readers will note some changes, the first and most noticeable of which is that Langmuir will appear weekly beginning with this issue. This change will offer authors, readers, and editors several advantages. Some of these include faster publication of hard copy, more cover opportunities, and more chances for publishing special issues and feature articles. We are also adding titles to references cited in Langmuir bibliographies. We think this will be helpful to both readers and reviewers. In the past year, we participated in two virtual special issues with sister ACS journals. We will consider additional activities of this sort and will appreciate any feedback you as readers can offer us. Two special issues will be published early in 2012, both of which have “editorial teams” including two or more Langmuir editors. Last year, we had a chance to once again hold an editorial advisory board meeting overseas. Several of our Langmuir editors and editors from ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces participated in these meetings at Shandong University in Jinan, China. During the same period, Langmuir and ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces editors participated in ACS on Campus events at Jinan and Beijing. Langmuir has continued to grow both in number of manuscripts submitted and in papers published. Langmuir’s impact factor and number of cites are increasing, and for 2010, the impact factor (released in June 2011) was the highest ever over 27 years. We look forward, with your help, to further improving Langmuir in 2012 and beyond.
