EDITORIAL Chemical Sensors Special Issue From time to time, Accounts of Chemical Research presents special issues in areas of emerging chemical science or technology. The relatively new field of chemical sensors has important implications for many areas, from monitoring workplace safety or critical blood components in patients, to detection of explosives in airports or nerve gases on the battlefield. This issue is unusual for Accounts in that some of the articles have a strongly applied nature, as is appropriate for the subject matter. Guest Editors Richard M. Crooks and Antonio J. Ricco organized the special issue, and the Editors thank them for their efforts in soliciting the papers and making major contributions to the editorial process.
