ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER SOLID/HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT The State of Delaware, Division of Environmental Control is seeking an experienced engineer to head up its Solid and Hazardous Waste Management programs. This challenging position Is responsible for managing the State's hazardous waste program under authorization from the U. S. EPA and supervising a staff of professionals including engineers, field technicians and clerical personnel. The position involves substantial public contact and daily exchange with profes sionals in industry and other government agencies. The Delaware hazardous waste management program was the first program in its region to receive EPA approval. The program has been highly successful but many challenges face the Division as the State's programs for management of solid and hazardous wastes are developed and implemented. The successful candidate must have a bachelor degree In environmental, civil, chemical or sanitary engineering and 5 years of environmental engineering experience two years of which must have been at the lead level. Because of the nature of the work, preference will be given to candidates with chemical engineering degrees and experience with state or federal regulatory agencies working in hazardous waste management. This is a State of Delaware "Merit System" position reporting directly to the Director of Environmental Control. Salary range: $24,110-$38,026 depending on ex perience.
