It's not often that you hear a company boast about being Number 2 in any business. But we're proud of it. Because how many of you know that U.S.If is the second largest manufacturer of vinyl acetate monomer in the U.S. And that 7 years ago we weren't even in the business. Or that our VAM™ vinyl acetate monomer plant,' the world's largest, was designed by U.S.I, engineers to utilize our patented vapor-phase process. We built this plant because we anticipated your growing need for vinyl acetate. We see an even greater need in the future.
So we're planning to almost double our annual production to 600 million pounds. Some of the feedstock will come from our new acetic acid plant. These and other major expansions should be completed by 1979, making us pretty much of a giant in our parts of the business —polyethylene, ethyl alcohol —in addition to vinyl acetate. But even then, we won't be too big to consider your needs. Because we know it's you, our customers, who are the real giants in our business.
