T
he enantioselective total synthesis described in this article afforded the natural enantiomer of sarain A, as confirmed by CD comparisons with the natural product.1 Natural sarain A, isolated from the sponge Reniera sarai, whose optical rotation is reported to be [α]D +66 (c 1.3, CHCl3),1a is erroneously referred to as (−)-sarain A in this publication. The title of this article and other mentions of (−)-sarain A in the publication should be changed to (+)-sarain A. Insufficient amounts of synthetic sarain A were prepared to allow a reliable optical rotation to be measured, resulting in this errorwhich propagated from an early model study in the enantiomeric seriesnot being detected at the time of publication.
