Dual Personality Investigators won't have to use a Rorschach Test to determine that this chemical undergoes reactions typical of both alcohols and primary amines. Although DIGLYCOLAMINE is an isomer of diethanolamine, it has significant structural differences. These differences in reactive groups (primary vs. secondary amine and one vs. two hydroxy 1 groups) make DIGLYCOLAMINE more suitable than diethanolamine for the preparation of certain derivatives. For example, in the reaction with fatty acids to form amide-type foam stabilizers, the product from DIGLYCOLAMINE might be expected to be more desirable than the corresponding

... DIGLYCOLAMINE diethanolamine derivative since its structure favors the formation of amide linkage over ester groups. In certain reactions, DIGLYCOLAMINE has an advantage over monoethanolamine in avoiding cyclic structures. Some suggested applications are natural gas scrubbing, preparation of foam stabilizers, wetting and emulsifying agents, and condensation polymers. Its hygroscopic properties suggest its use as a moisture absorbent. DIGLYCOLAMINE is available in drum or bulk. For samples and technical information write . . .
