Eastern Analytical Symposium The Eastern Analytical Symposium, which will be held at the Hotel Statler Hilton in New York City, Nov. 15 to 17, will feature 51 scientific papers and an exposition of analytical instruments by 80 manufacturing firms. The meeting will be sponsored by the ACS, the Society for Applied Spectroscopy, and the Metropolitan Microchemical Society. Chairman of the symposium is Dr. Saul Gordon of Fairleigh Dickinson University. The symposium, which is an annual affair, represents an effort to provide an outstanding program of specialized topics in analytical chemistry by well known industrial research men and academic leaders in the field.

established to stimulate fundamental contributions in plastics, to acknowledge outstanding achievements of distinguished scientists, and to disseminate the technical information of award lectures.

The 9th Annual Western Spectroscopy Conference will be held at Asilomar, Pacific Grove, Calif., Jan. 25 and 26. The program will consist of invited speakers discussing topics in the field of spectroscopy, with ample time for informal discussion of the papers. For further information write to Dr. Donald G. Rea, Chairman, Western Spectroscopy Association, University of California, Space Sciences Laboratory, Room 3, Leuschner Observatory, Berkley 4, Calif.
