STYRENE FOR

superior coatings PS RESINS

Dow coating resins of the PS Series are rated excellent in electrical properties, chemical resistance, and water resistance. These polystyrene resins give you wide latitude in formulation. The series covers a broad range of melting points, viscosities, hardnesses, and solubilities. Resins of the PS Series are economical and soluble in low-cost solvent mixtures. Moreover, they can be used not only in surface coatings and impregnants by the conventional type of solution application, but also in hot melts. Dow PS Series Resins are water-white and permanently thermoplastic. All are available in commercial quantities.

STYRENE MONOMER

Styrene (vinyl benzene) is making important news today as the key to a significant new family of coatings. Styrene has long been known as a highly reactive hydrocarbon monomer that can be polymerized to form polystyrene. Now it is being copolymerized with a wide variety of other unsaturated substances to form useful new coating materials. In these compositions styrene contributes light color, good electrical properties, excellent durability, and water resistance. Technical assistance concerning the preparation of styrene-modified oils and resins is available through the nearest Dow office. A call will bring you details.
