Ed it orial Energy & Fuels continues to change and develop, but at a slower pace. The number of pages published this year is about the same as last, as is the percent of submitted papers which are rejected or withdrawn. The number of subscriptions continues its slow increase. The balance of fields represented by the published papers is improving, with more papers on catalysis and organic geochemistry. The number of coal chemistrypapers published has decreased slightly. We will be making a determined effort to attract more petroleum papers during the next year. We thank the corps of reviewers. Most reports continue to be constructive, helpful, and detailed. The editors and the authors appreciate your work. We also thank the authors whose work has again earned for Energy & Fuels the highest citation rate of the journals having its scope. John W. Larsen
