Shigeki Masunaga Shigeki Masunaga is a professor in the Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences at Yokohama National University. He has been conducting researches in the field of monitoring of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PCPPs) and metals, behavioral analysis of those chemicals, and their human health and ecological risk assessment. He is also interested in identification and apportionment methods of pollution sources. His successful source apportionment of dioxins in Japan had large impact to the environmental dioxin management of the country. His current interest includes occurrence of perfluoroalkyl acid (PFAA) precursors and their contribution to the PFAAs in the environment. He has been a member of American Chemical Society for more than 25 years.
