A n Evening with Nuclear Scientists has been arranged at Argonne National Laboratory for Tuesday, Sept. 1. This event, which includes a tour, social hour, and dinner, is open to all ACS members and their guests. Minimum age limit is 18 years. Argonne National Laboratory, some 26 miles from the Chicago Loop, is operated by the University of Chicago for the AEC. With some 4800 employees, of which about 1300 are permanent staff scientists and engineers, and with 100 buildings and special facilities valued at more than $250 million, this laboratory is devoted to research and development in the nuclear sciences. The tour will feature the newly completed Zero Gradient Synchrotron, one of the world's largest and most modern accelerators for subatomic particles and will include the CP-5 Nuclear Research Reactor. Price of tickets includes a steak (or roast beef) dinner and transportation. Buses will leave the loop at 4: 30 P.M., returning about 10 P.M. in time to attend the ACS Mixer. Price $5.25. Limit 160.
