COMMENT
Continued from page 53 devastating effects of losing a regular paycheck. In particular, families that depend on multiple incomes need to ensure that the total household income is insured so that a disabling accident or injury to one member of the house hold would not affect the family's stan dard of living. Many of you are covered by some form of disability insurance in the workplace, but some of you are not. And those of you who have some cov erage at work, may not have adequate coverage. Financial planning experts advise us to carefully evaluate any em ployer or government benefits that we would be entitled to receive if we were disabled and to determine whether that amount would adequately meet our fi nancial needs. You may want to discuss disability income protection insurance with a fi nancial adviser to make sure your needs are adequately met. If you find that you need coverage, ACS has a lowcost plan with affordable group rates. All ACS members and national affili ates and their spouses who are under age 60, are not in the military service, live in the U.S. or Canada, and are ac tively at work (at least 30 hours per week) are eligible to apply. You may obtain additional information on the ACS disability income protection plan by contacting the Member Insurance Office by phone at (202) 452-8911, by email at
[email protected], or by fax at (202) 872-4435. Π
