Diels-Alder reactions of cationic dienophiles stabilized by cobalt-complexed alkynes show greatly enhanced reactivity versus the corresponding substrates lacking cobalt complexation. Studies are currently underway to determine the regio- and stereoselectivity of these novel dienophiles. Ph
