Fast Pipetting Technique The following is a real time saver when pipetting with volumetric pipets. Place the pipet to be drained in the proper depth of the volumetric flask (where the tip won't touch the walls of the h k or come in contact with the solution), and clamp an ordinary spring-type wooden or plastic clothes pin onto the pipet. Resting the clothes pin on the top of the flask frees one to begin pipetting the next sample or standard. With the U8e of two clothes pins a rapid system is soon developed whereby one can have the second pipet filled by the time the first one has drained.
