Unique circuitry in Standard Electric Time Co.'s new electronic tachometer permits self-checking for correct operation and accuracy. The Model ETC features a package-type plug-in assembly that enables unskilled personnel to
check operation in only a few minutes by replacement of any or all of nine separate electronic components. According to Standard, the ETC in operation counts r.p.m., rate, or frequency by counting electrical pulses for an accurately timed interval. From 10 to 50,000 pulses can be reported. The count is displayed directly on glow counter tubes and is said to be accurate to plus or minus one count. For r.p.m. counts, a 60-tooth gear on the transducer or generator is used. 6

Apex Scientific's new mechanically refrigerated constant-temperature bath is applicable for temperatures from 0° to 150° C. and features a control accuracy of 0.002° C. For temperatures below ambient, the built-in mechanical refrigeration system operates continuously to maintain the temperature, and excess refrigeration is precisely balanced by conti'ol heaters. Refrigeration is furnished by a Vshp. sealed unit compressor using Freon 12 as a refrigerant. The condenser is air cooled by a motor-driven fan. The bath is constructed of stainless steel with the top rim sealed to prevent accidental overflow from wetting the glass w?ool insulation. The outer bath housing is of hammertoned steel with a divided hinged bakélite top. 7 Vacuum Measuring Gage
A new thermocouple vacuum gage said to provide an accurate and reliable means for vacuum measurement is announced by the Arthur F. Smith Co. The gage design provides for connection to continuous recording and controlling equipment, and reading accuracy is within 2%, the company says.
