acids, a patented process of Armour and Company, guarantees light color, mild odor, low unsaponifiable content and uniformity. No other process of treating tall oils can produce comparable results. Yet Neo-Fat tall oil fatty acids have been consistently lower in price than other fatty acids on the market. N e o - F a t S-142
Modified alkyd resins made from Neo-Fat S-142 are remarkably flexible and free of the characteristic embrittlement which accompanies the alkyds made from ordi nary refined or distilled tall oil acids. Neo-Fat S-142 may be esterified with a polyhydric alcohol to produce a good quality semi-drying oil. Soap — Neo-Fat S-142 is particularly adaptable to the manufacture of jell, liquid and drycleaning soaps. Considerable savings in operating costs may be effected in the manufacture of these soaps, due to the ease and rapidity with which fatty acids may be saponified. Latex foam — More and more rubber proc essors are switching from L.T. Red Oil to Neo-Fat S-142 as a foaming agent and stabilizer in the manufacture of latex foam sponge. The small amount of rosin con tained in Neo-Fat S-142 represents the optimum for latex foaming or stabilization. Not only is Neo-Fat S-142 better for this application, but it is more economical. If you are manufacturing latex foam sponge, you should investigate the prop erties and price of Neo-Fat S-142. Other applications where Neo-Fat S-142 is used . . . ore flotation, cutting oils, special polishes, liquid buffing compounds, carbon paper. In fact, wherever a low titer unsat urated fatty acid is required, Neo-Fat S-142 should be investigated. Specifications Neo-Fat S-142 Max. Titer Iodine (Wijs) Acid Value Color, Lovibond- i "

This fraction is produced by the redistilla tion of Neo-Fat S-142 for lighter color, lower rosin acids content. Modified alkyd resins made from Neo-Fat D-142 have excellent adhesion to metal. Actual tests show that even without a primer coat or undercoat of film, amazing toughness and flexibility are secured. NeoFat D-142 alkyds greatly reduce the "sagging" and "running" which is common to alkyd enamels. Another advantage is the saving in time required for grinding pigments. Neo-Fat D-142 alkyds have good resistance to alkalis and water. Soap — Neo-Fat D-142 is also excellent for liquid and jell soaps as well as waterless hand cleaners. In water-emulsion wax for mulations, Neo-Fat D-142 will replace oleic acid with equal or better results. Other applications include ore flotation, rust prevention compounds, metal polishes, metal cleaning compounds and insecticide emulsifiers. Send for samples of Neo-Fat S-142 or Neo-Fat D-142. Sfobe&cvic/ Bis-hydroxyethylalkylamines ~CH 2 CH 2 0H CH 2 CH 2 0H
Bis-hydroxyethylalkylamines are tertiary amines —stable organic bases. As chemical intermediates, they can be reacted to form a wide range of fine organic derivatives having many fields of use. Solubility — Bis-hydroxyethylalkylamines are insoluble in water and highly soluble in the usual organic solvents. Although water insoluble, they disperse readily in water to form stable emulsions. The bishydroxyethylalkylamines form highly sol uble amine salts with acid solutions. Application—Bis-hydroxyethylalkylamines can be easily converted to quaternary ammonium salts and/or reacted to form new ester derivatives. Because of this, they are expected to be important intermediates in the manufacture of germicides, textile agents, emulsifiers a n d a host of new cationic surface active chemicals. Availability—Research samples of bishydroxyethylalkylamines will soon be available for laboratory studies. Send the coupon for these free samples.
