Using the .ame ordinary, or non-adiabatic, calorimetric method and the same calorimeter as described by Miles and Hunt (2) and modified by Niller and Hunt (3), the heat of combustion has been determined for each of the following compounds: methyl nitroacetate, p-phenylenediamine, oxalyldihydraside, malonyldihydrazide, and succinyldihydrazide. Of these compounds all are solids except methyl nitroacetate, a liquid. The equipment was calibrated with Sational Bureau of Standards benzoic acid, Standard Sample 39f. Sample- of the *olid compounds were prepared in the form of cylindrical pellets, 11 hile the vapor pressure of the only liquid studied was so low as t o permit neighing it directly into the combustion cup.
