Because it aids in moisture retention, the water added won't collect at the bottom of the dish—making a soupy mix that pets shun. Cellulose gum is preferred by many manufacturers for its uniqueness in producing almost instant viscosity, and for its retort stability in canned foods. EASE MATERIALS SHORTAGES As a producer of more than 1,000 chemical m a t e r i a l s , Hercules frequently can provide industry with alternate or substitute products for those temporarily in short supply. A current example is t h e s u l f o n a t e n o r m a l l y used in making metal-cutting oils. By using Dresinate® as the emulsifier in cutting oil formulations, manufacturers not only can partially replace sulfonate but also can give products better stability in either hard or soft waters. In certain cases, stable soluble oils and emulsions may be formulated using just Dresinate, sulfonate, and mineral oil. Standardization with Dresinate also can contribute to simplification of plant equipment and manpower, as well as a reduction in emulsifier costs.
