Mow to control foaming with Pittsburgh Activated Carbon.

While mechanical filtration equipment removes suspended solids, it cannot, of course, remove the hydrocarbons which cause f o a m i n g . Pittsburgh Granular Activated Carbon is a different story. On recirculating amine streams, Pittsburgh Type SGL will adsorb the foam-producing molecules. This reduction of foaming helps maintain high unit capacity, and reduces the need for expensive anti-foam agents to an absolute minimum. It also provides some measure of corrosion control so that smaller amounts of corrosion inhibitors are necessary. Furthermore, w i t h Pittsburgh Type SGL Granular

the original system capacity is maintained and amine make-up requirements are reduced. How about installation costs? Fixed beds of Type SGL in recirculating amine streams are neither costly nor complicated in that they combine the ultimate in countercurrent efficiency with simplicity of operation. Slurry tanks, filter presses and other treatment vessels are eliminated along with excessive plant floor space.
