Who in the world needs a laboratory robot? Any chemist who wishes he were evaluating results or developing a new method instead of doing tedious and repetitive laboratory operations. Any laboratory supervisor who has watched hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of analytical instrumentation sitting idle while chemists and technicians were preparing samples for analysis. Any laboratory manager who has been asked to increase the laboratory's productivity 20 percent with an increased staff authorization of 5 percent.

The Zymate System can be programmed for multiple procedures and easily reprogrammed for new or revised procedures. Think of this robot as a general purpose computer with hands. It's not dedicated to a routine, only to increasing your productivity—whether you're in chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, foods or diagnostics. H o w can it do all the manipulations? The robot selects a "hand"— such as the gripper or the syringe hand—then fills, empties, or carries the tubes to selected laboratory stations arranged around it on the bench, following the programmed procedure. In this manner the Zymate System can weigh, dilute, mix, centrifuge, concentrate, and derivatize samples, then place them directly in an analytical instrument.

The Zymate™ System was designed specifically to solve these problems using programmable laboratory robotics. It is already doing that in hundreds of successful installations. You ask: B u t how can it automate m y operation? You're the instructor. You tell the Zymate System exactly what to do from the controller keyboard, using our EasyLab™ laboratory language software. For instance: REMOVE . ALIQUOT . OF . SAMPLE; PUT. SAMPLE . IN . RACK. You don't have to know anything about programming.

Sample preparation and analysis proceed concurrently. Not only are instruments more efficiently utilized, but they produce analytical results immediately, allowing you to correct any error in the preparation method before a lot of time and materials are wasted.

Won't it displace m y present people? Not displace, release. The people who are now preparing samples will be free to contribute their skills to more productive work, such as developing new methods or evaluating results. Meanwhile the Zymate System can handle the ever increasing sample load by running extra hours. Can I afford it? You'd be surprised how affordable a Zymate System is. The purchase price is no higher than many other laboratory instruments, and payback can come within a year. Remember, the Zymate System saves money by making possible more efficient use of both your people and your instrumentation. I'm interested. W h a t ' s the n e x t step? Call or write.
