WEB SITES The International Society for Environmental Protection, based in Vienna, Austria, aims to provide a global platform for environmental information exchange (http://www. cedar.univie.ac.at/cedar/isep.html). The site provides information on ongoing projects, conferences and workshops, and projects under development. The organization addresses such issues as the development of a European Environmental Catalogue of Metadata and the development of a thesaurus for the German Catalogue of Environmental Data Sources. EPA has created a central Web library for more than 6000 documents at the Environmental Publications Information site (http://www.epa.gov/ cincl). Users can search or browse documents by number or title, National Publications Catalog, or Technical Information Packages. An index of terminology, abbreviations, and acronyms is also provided. U.S. pulp and paper industry regulations are the subject of a new home page at EPA's site (http://www.epa. gov/OST/pulppaper). The site includes regulatory information, fact sheets, supporting documents, and technical contacts for proposed actions to reduce releases to the air and water of toxic pollutants from pulp, paper, and paperboard mills. Environmental projects of the U.S. forest product industry form part of the Department of Energy's Office of Industrial Technologies site (http:// www.oit.doe.gov/IOF/forest/). The site includes calls for proposals on improving the industry's environmental performance, use of recycling, and energy efficiency. A database of research and development projects and information about the office's programs to improve the uptake of new technologies are also available.
SWEDISH
Enviro Net The Swedish government's new EnviroNet site brings togedier environmental information from government agencies, local authorities, nongovernmental organizations, and private companies (http://smn.environ.se/ smnproj / milj onat / english / index. htm). The site is automatically updated by a search agent that regularly scans the sites of contributing organizations. Many of the documents are in Swedish.
