Yes, without leaving our own library, a precursory patent and literature search revealed 135 possible industrial applications for PIPERAZINE and its derivatives. This potential industrial workhorse may be just the starting material or intermediate you're seeking in your research program. The chemical structure shows piperazine to be a cyclic secondary diamine comprising a sixmembered heterocycle with the nitrogens in the para positions. In the pure state, it is a white, hygroscopic, crystalline solid, with a mild odor typical of amines. Piperazine behaves chemically as might be expected of a secondary amine. It forms salts with inorganic acids, but with organic acids, either the salt or the amide may result, depending on the conditions. Similar amidation occurs with anhydrides, acid chlorides, and esters.
