WOULD YOU USE A
RUBBER RULER? Even α fancy one can't be calibrated accurately. Wide bandwidth light absorbance photometers give the same trouble.
• Beer's Absorbance Law applies rigorously only to monochromatic (extremely narrow bandwith) optical systems.
Here is a flow-type UV densito meter with a l/1000th bandwidth of 0.6 millimicron. It measures in true linear absorbance (not percent transmittance) in two ranges: 0 to 0.5 and 0 to 2.5 absorbance units. It has a built-in recorder. It works in a cold room, ft can actuate an accessory fraction collector at the beginning and end of each absor bance peak, depositing each UVabsorbing fraction in a separate collecting tube. The price of this instrument?
$845
• The ISCO Model UA Ultraviolet Analyzer has the narrowest bandwidth of any UV flow densito meter. So narrow t h a t you don't need to operate at wavelengths near absorbance maxima. ^••••••••••••••••••••••••IIIIMIIII

Also useable with the ISCO density gradient fractionator.
