Trimethylsilylated Amino Acids Trimethylsilylated (TMS) amino acids are offered both in pure form and in 107» solution in high purity hexane for use as chromatographic standards. The following compounds are available in research quantities: TMS-L-alaninc; TMS-L-aspartic acid; TMS-glycine; TMS-L-leucine ; TMS-isoleucine ; TMS-L-phenylalanine ; TMS-D,L-serine; and TMS-D,L-vahne. (0,0-(bis)ΤΛΙ-uracil, of related interest, is also offered.) In these compounds trimethylsilyl groups are bonded to the par ent compounds through both Si—Ν and Si—Ο linkages. Silylating Reagent Volasil, silylating reagent, is a single solution solvent-reagent-catalyst for mulation for rapidly producing dimethylsilyl derivatives of polar compounds for gas chromatography. Volasil derivatization is based on the reaction of tetramethyldisilazane and dimethylchlorosilane in anhydrous pyridine with hydroxy and polyhydroxy compounds such as carbohydrates, alcohols, and other polar materials. Silylating Agent ΛΓ,ΛΓ- Bis(trimethylsilyl)acetamide (BSA) is a silylating agent for the rapid quantitative conversion of high melting solids to volatile liquids prior to analysis by gas chromatography. Vola tile derivatives of amides, ureas, amino acids, highly hindered phenols, carboxylic acids and enols can be prepared with the reagent. It is also used as a fast-acting quenching agent for active hydrogen compounds and as a reactant in a novel esterification procedure.
