KARL REMIGIUS FRESENIUS (1818-1897) Born a t FrankEort-on-Main. Studied a t Bonn and Giessen. At Giessen served as assistant in Liebi s laboratory and became assistant professor. Appointed to chair ofchemistry, physics. and tecfnology a t the Wiesbaden Agricultural Institution (1845). First director of chemical laboratory established a t Wiesbaden by the Nassau government (1848). Tents on qualitative analysis (1841) and quantitative analysis (1846 Many papers published in Zciichrift fiir annlylidzc Chernic which he founded in 1862 and e k e d untd his death.
