Caching a Cable Robber
Other Advantages of SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS
After a number of lead-antimony sheathed cables had been stolen from Bell Telephone job locations, a suspect was discovered with large amounts of melted lead in his possession. His alibi — that he had purchased the lead from a power company — was not substantiated. It broke down completely when samples of the two types of lead were analyzed in Bell's spectrographic laboratories — and the suspect's supply was found to match exactly that of the stolen cables!
• Sensitive t o 1/10,000,000 of a gram for some elements • Saves t i m e in analysis • D e t e c t s unsuspected metals • Accurate testing is possible with very small s a m p l e • Provides a p e r m a n e n t record
Why it pays to use "National" spectroscopic electrodes National Carbon Company's spectroscopic electrodes are the purest obtainable. Each shipment is accompanied by a "Statement of Purity" which tells your analyst exactly what percentages of faint trace elements are present in the electrodes. As a result he can assess his plates or"filmvery quickly and accurately, without being confused by unexpected spectral lines caused by foreign elements.
• Differentiates between two elements chemically v e r y similar • Analysis can be m a d e in some cases without destroying s a m p l e
