Laboratory shaking apparatus Adjustment of agitation velocity between 80 and 140 impulses per minute can be made without loss by mechanical adjustment of the distance between shafts. The unit consists of a single-phase short-circuit rotor motor with built-in centrifugal and thermostat switch, stand, connection for 220 volts a.c, main switch, connecting cable, and Schuko Plug. There is a light metal shaker tray suitable for inserting a container of 5-liter capacity, or several small bottles. A special shaker attachment is available for multiple investigations with horizontally placed separating
flasks, beakers, test tubes, and many other types of lab glassware. A formula basket is especially designed to hold nursing bottles, caps, and nipples in hospital use. Several new models of precision temperature controllers are announced by Bayley Instrument Co. These controllers, suitable for laboratory and pilot plant operation, have accuracy of ±0.001° C. and range from —100° C. to +500° C. They are obtainable in relay rack models, of which there are three with 1700-watt outlet capacity and three of 300-watt outlet capacity. P-10 Micro Combustion Boat A 2-in. long micro combustion boat, made of high grade electrical zircon and free from carbon and sulfur blank, is announced by Saxonburg Ceramics. It is available in porcelain, zircon, or alumina oxide, but is normally furnished in zirconium silicate.
