Vacuum
Shelf
Dryers
Construction changes in its vacuum shelf dryers for efficient, high-speed drying a t absolute pressures in the low micron range are announced b y t h e F . J. Stokes Machine Co. Built of welded steel, they are said to assure vacuum tightness under extremely low absolute pressure drying procedures. Dryer shelves, with internal baffles, are arranged to provide uniform h e a t throughout the entire shelf area. T h e jacketed construc tion of the top surface of the shelf dryer prevents condensation of the vapors passing toward the v a c u u m connection. The lower section of t h e v a c u u m shelf dryer is fitted with a drain gutter and outlet to p e r m i t cleaning of t h e unit with out spillage. A swivel spotlight, a t t a c h e d to the v a c u u m shelf d r y e r door, permits close observation of the material during the drying process. T h e dryers are available in five chamber sizes, with shelf spacing provided to suit specific requirements. Where necessary, special metals a n d metal-sprayed interiors can be furnished. S t e a m , h o t water, or oil can be used for varying drying t e m perature requirements. Ε 1

M e d i u m - d u t y t u r b i n e p u m p s are being manufactured b y t h e R o y E . R o t h Co. These p u m p s , available in m a n y types, were designed to provide a low-priced line for use in w r ater supply service, conden sate r e t u r n , a n d boiler feed service or any application where nonviscous and nonabrasive liquids a r e handled against moderate pressures, t h e company states. The capacities available a r e 2 to 10 g.p.m. a n d 20 to 100 head feet in water a t 1,750 r.p.m. or 2 t o 8 g.p.m. and 100 to 200 h e a d feet in w a t e r a t 3,450 r.p.m. T h e only moving p a r t of the p u m p is the impeller, which is m o u n t e d on a stain less steel shaft which turns en two ball bearings. There is only one stuffing box. E2
Vibrating
Screens
T h e Screen E q u i p m e n t Co., Inc., has announced production of inexpensive, light-duty vibrating screens. These small, sturdy vibrating screens have been de signed to simplify a g r e a t number of small screening jobs often performed b y hand. Any job of separating materials to size, dedusting, or reclaiming m a y be handled efficiently by t h e screens, t h e manufac turer claims. Single- and double-deck models are

Unit
A portable p u m p u n i t announced, by Eco Engineering Co. consists o f a g e a r less p u m p powered by a 1.5-h.p. singlecylinder, four-cycle air-cooled gasoline engine. I t is designed for use on b o a t s a n d docks, in boat yards, on farms, in plants, or wherever a p o r t a b l e type of emergency p u m p is required. The belt can b e removed b y simply raising the p u m p , which is hinged. When the p u m p is not in use, the engine can a l s o be used to run a generator, lathe, or a n y o t h e r similar motor-driven e q u i p m e n t . Ε 4

Regulator-Filter Its combination regulator-filter c o m bines t h e features of a high-grade reducingrelief valve and an efficient air filter in a form ideally adapted to instrument s e r v ice requirements, according to Conoflow Corp., the manufacturer. T h e unit is compact, rugged, easily mounted, and easily serviced. All parts are of e i t h e r forged brass or stainless steel. The regulator offers extra large capacity and composition seats t o provide t i g h t srrutoff when not in service. I t also incorporates a relief valve as a safety feature. T h e diaphragm area is large. T h e filter medium is a pher*olic-resinimpregnated' cellulose cylinder said t o b e capable of removing particles a s sma.ll a s 40 m. I t can be cleaned b y removal a n d dipping in a solvent material. All filtering takes place on the h i g h side of the regulator. Ranges are 0 t o 30 p . s . i . and 0 to 60 p.s.i. with connections for inlet pressures up to 150 p.s.i. Ε 5*
