Chemicals
Monomers (Chemlink). Available in commercial quantities are trimethylol propane trimethacrylate, 1,3-butylene glycol dimethacrylate, tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate; in drums, tank wagons, or in powdered form dispersed in various carriers. Ware Chemical Corp., Bridgeport, Conn. C 68
Zinc brighteners (Zimax NC-300). A series of noncyanide brighteners for zinc plating, may be used in both barrel and rack zinc plating processes; absence of cyanide greatly simplifies waste disposal problems; brighteners are available in liquid form, eliminating the need for mixing by the plater. American Smelting and Refining Co., New York, N.Y. C 60
Tackifier (Super Sta-Tac). A pale, thermoplastic resin derived from mixed olefin polymerization, contributes permanent tack to natural, synthetic natural, styrene-butadiene, and butyl rubbers as well as to polyisobutylene, acrylics, or polyvinyl ethers. Reichhold Chemicals, Inc., White Plains, N.Y. C 69
ResSn (Resylac 2659R). Resorcinol diglycidyl ether shows outstanding characteristics for long-term, high-temperature applications for castings, adhesives, reinforced plastics and coatings; available in commercial quantities. Resyn Corp., Linden, NJ. C 61
Literature Rust preventive ( S A C I ) . Designed specifically for inhibiting temporary rust and corrosion in coating systems; comprises a series of five over-based colloidal inorganic-organic dispersions; commercially available to manufacturers of oil- and solvent-type coating and lubrication formulations. Continental Oil Co., Saddle Brook, N.J. C 62
Steroids. Twenty-eight-page catalog lists the various names for the compounds, the molecular weight, catalog number, and price; listed for most items are the structural formula, melting range, specific extinction, loss on drying, and sulfate ash; 110 compounds are described in the brochure. Brinkmann Instruments, Westbury, N.Y. LI
Slimicide (Biosperse 2 2 4 ) . A dry, synergized blend of polychlorophenates, organosulfur compounds and dispersing agents, may be used in economical dosages for all types of industrial water systems; particularly effective for use in paper mills and cooling towers. Drew Chemical Corp., New York, N.Y. C 6 3
Instrument rental (Bulletin GEC-1551C). Lists more than 200 new items, gives the monthly rates and ordering information for a wide variety of analytical instruments, electromechanical measuring devices, and electrical and electronic instrumentation available to industry through rentals by GE's service shops department. General Electric, Schenectady, N.Y. L2
Thickener (Tychem 9505). Specifically designed for latex compounds, the product is an aqueous solution of a sodium polyacrylate-type synthetic polymer; imparts a full-bodied flow; effects viscosity stability in latex compounds over extended periods of time and thus eliminates syneresis. Standard Brands Chemical Industries, Inc., Dover, Del. C 64
Magnetic pulleys (Bulletin PY-260). Bulletin is illustrated with cutaway view showing radial design magnetic circuit assembly, together with a number of magnetic pulley application photos; eight pages; gives complete information on sizes, capacities, and dimensions. Homer Magnetics, Lima, Ohio L3
Polymer (PVS-15). Polyvinyl stéarate polymer with a wide range of uses; a hard, water dispersable, synthetic wax highly compatible with most natural waxes. Allaco Products, Inc., Braintree, Mass. C 65
Test kits. Ninety-four pages display water and pollution analysis kits. Includes material on test procedures, replacement parts, specifications, and prices. Hach Chemical Co., Ames, Iowa L 4 Valves (Catalog 6 8 - T ) . Interim catalog describes specialized valves for chemical plants, food industry, power plants, and other users. Types of valves include blast gate, flap, gate, and blow valves. Record Corp., Livermore Falls, Me. L5
Latex (Unitak 131). Fast drying, water-based adhesive with the advantage of being nonflammable; high-solids, large-particlesize products with excellent viscosity characteristics; available in 5-gallon and 55-gallon nonreturnable containers. Imperial Adhesives & Chemicals, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio C 66
Industrial plastics (Technical Bulletin 80-8). Illustrated brochure provides selection guide for plastics used for such heavyduty industrial applications as machined parts, structural members, piping, ductwork, and vessels. Includes selection tips, specification data, and weights for the most popular types. Joseph F. Ryerson & Son, Inc., Chicago, 111. L6
Sealant (Acryl-R). Acrylic seam sealant can be applied directly to oily or moist surfaces without impairing adhesion or performance; peel strength tests of the material show the same strength—38 pounds per inch width—on both contaminated and clean surfaces. Cabot Corp., Boston, Mass. C 67
