I-beam is sprayed with a lacquer shop primer based on Eponol 55 resin. Even a very thin coat gives excellent protection against moisture, chemicals and outdoor exposure.

Dry 15 minutes later. Coatings based on Eponol 55 resin dry by solvent evaporation alone without a curing agent. They are tough, abrasion-resistant and extremely durable.

New Shell | Eponol 55 resin | lets you formulate epoxy primers that dry in 15 minutes, adhere to almost any surface For the first time—a"one package" epoxy system that dries by sol vent evaporation alone. No curing agents needed. ERE'S an opportunity to formulate H durable epoxy primers in a new easy-to-apply form. Coatings based on new Shell Eponol 55 resin have out standing toughness, hardness and ab rasion resistance. No curing agent is required. Coatings dry by solvent evap oration alone in 15 minutes or less. Pot life: infinite! These coatings make particularly good primers because they resist chem icals, moisture and weathering even in extremely thin films. An Eponol 55 formulation forms a high-strength bond with practically any clean sur face—and, in turn, presents a surface that bonds well, with practically any topcoat formulation,

Converted coatings possible Eponol 55 can be cross-linked with such heat-reactive resins as melamine, urea or triazine by baking either before or during topcoat application. These resins improve specific prop erties—for example, the process resist ance of can-lining formulations, or the perspiration resistance of brass finishes. Wide range of applications In either lacquer-type or converted coatings for steel, aluminum, brass, copper or galvanized metals, Eponol 55 resin can be useful to you. Here are some suggested applications:

Primers: zinc rich shop coats, main tenance primers, adhesion-promoting primers for vinyl and acrylic finishes. Clear and Transparent Finishes: can linings, wire coating and finishes for foil, polished metal hardware and gal vanized metal. Enamels: strip-coatings and other metal decorating applications.
