BRINCK has been released by the Montana State Board of Health from his regular chemical engineering duties for a period of six months t o conduct an industrial waste study for the UtahIdaho Sugar Co. at its Chinook, Mont., factory. T T H E annual meeting of the members of t h e Chemist Advisory Council, Inc., held January 2 0 , 1939, the secretary presented his report, from which t h e following information is taken. During t h e calendar year 1938, 6 9 0 individuals were registered. Forty per cent of these resided outside the N e w York area. Specifications for 138 vacancies were received and 8 7 registrants reported that they had secured permanent employ ment. Because of limited funds, n o can vass was made of t h e registration files, hence t h e actual number now employed among those registered is not known. Those registered include 67 with t h e degree of Fh.D., 101 M.S., 477 B.S., and 27 degrees from foreign institutions. There are 18 nongraduates with more than 5 years of industrial experience. T h e council has re-elected t h e following officers for the year 1939: president, Walter S. Landis; vice president, William T . Read; secretary, M . R. Bhagwat: treas urer, Robert T . Baldwin; board of d i rectors, Robert T . Baldwin, Marston T . Bogert, Frank G. Breyer, Walter S. Lan dis, William T. Read, Maximilian Toch> and Edward R. Weidlein.
