Packaging
An all-purpose container called Traypak introduced by Reynolds Metals Co., Richmond, Va., i s made of a single thin sheet of aluminum folded into a tray 1.5 inches deep and measuring 3.5 by 4.5 inches a t t h e bottom. An aluminum lid may b e attached by a manual crimping tool or by semiautomatic closure devices. I t is offered for commercial food packaging and home use, and is claimed to b e equally useful for freezer storage or oven heating of foods packed in them. Tests show that freezing time is reduced one-third to onehalf the normal time because of the high conductivity of aluminum. This is said t o effect an improvement in quality of the food frozen, as well as reducing freezing costs. Manufacturers of many products, such a s pastries and baked goods, may use Traypak in baking and processing and then cover t h e tray with a printed trans parent wrapper or insert in a transparent
bag. The l i g h t w e i g h t of Traypak is an outstanding feature.
