The new Philips PU 7450 - more nanometres from fewer centimetres PHILIPS

mm

How can the new PL) 7450 offer high-resolution bench-top ICP, when a conventional spectrometer needs a focal length in excess of a metre? To cut a long story short, it breaks the rules. Instead of a conventional spectrometer the PU 7450 has an échelle grating monochromator which provides the line-splitting resolution so important for critical applications in such fields as geology and metallurgy. Yet it also allows the instrument to become a bench-top reality. Accurate results are achieved with fixed optics and a moving on-peak detection system using stored computer coordinates for speed and reliability.
