Fastest Voltage Regulator Available THE CURTISS-WRIGHT LINE REGULATOR Simultaneous recordings of response to step change in 6 0 cps voilage.

The Curtiss-Wright Model E E 100 Distortion Elimi nating Voltage Regulator provides faster recovery time than any other regulator on the market—less than l/50th cycle, or 330 microseconds. I t also reduces typical power line distortion to less than 0.3%. Ca pacity is 1.4 KVA. Now being installed in a rapidly growing number of laboratories and production test departments, it provides simpler, more accurate calibration of meters, better design of transformers, synchros and motors . . . easier testing with fewer rejects, more accurate meas urement of magnetic properties and receiver sensi tivity . . . better a.c. computer performance, elimina tion of fast line transient effects. All-Purpose Drive Unit T h e Chemical & Pharmaceutical I n d u s t r y Co., Inc. is introducing a new laboratory unit, called t h e Erweka. I t is an all-purpose drive unit, which, with various a t t a c h m e n t s , serves as m a n y different machines. Numbering 14 in all, the a t t a c h m e n t s which are available include: a three-roller mill, a homogenizer, an agitator, a ball mill, a tablet coater, a n d others. T h e E r w e k a is said to be practical in operation with no mechanical skill re quired t o change from one type of a t t a c h m e n t to another. Occasional lubrication of the motor drive and regular cleaning are all the maintenance the E r w e k a requires, says t h e company. 9 Apparatus for High Frequency Measurement T h e Sargent-Jensen high frequency t i t r a t o r is now available from Ε . Η . Sargent & Co. This instrument was designed in collaboration with D r . F . W. Jensen for the high frequency measure m e n t of conductance and dielectric con stant. I t s primary use is with aqueous or semi-aqueous solutions of electro lytes, particularly as an indicator of the course of titration reactions for end point determination. I n t h e absence of physical or electrical contact between instrument and solution under measure ment, problems involved with use of low frequency conductance measure m e n t are avoided, says the company. A high level of sensitivity is provided also, adds Sargent. 10 N e w Ovens Feature Heating Uniformity A new line of ovens is offered by the Precision Scientific Co.—Models 16 and 17 Thelco ovens and Model 18 Thelco mechanical convection oven. T h e first two models have a tempera ture range to 200° C , with an over-all uniformity of ± 1.4 to ± 1.7 ° C. through o u t t h e range. According t o the com pany, the performance characteristics of these ovens are made possible by gravity convection heat transfer utilizing selected and efficiently placed com ponents. Outstanding feature of the low cost Model 18 is heat-up time of 40 minutes to its m a x i m u m temperature of 200° C. Other features include: recovery time of 25 minutes, t h e r m o s t a t sensitivity of ± 0 . 2 5 ° C , and temperature uniformity throughout t h e chamber of ± 1 . 1 ° C. a t 200°C. Π
