iu;niiiia...ani1 only from Sinclair Poly B-D liquid resins are a small but growing family of unique, low molecular weight, poly mers based on butadiene. Produced by means of a unique Sinclair process, these polymers possess an unusually desirable combination of properties. The linear molecular structure, varying degrees of carboxylic functionality and high unsaturation of the Poly B-D liquid resins have pointed the way to their use in coating applications where severe requirements are to be met. Thin films may be thermally cured to produce coatings having high flexibility, excep tional hardness, and excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance. Sinclair Poly B-D R-15 is a water-white buta diene homopolymer having a viscosity of ap proximately 220 poises at 100% solids. The low molecular weight of Poly B-D R-15 allows
the production of high solids formulations when dissolved in hydrocarbon solvents. The result ing thermally-cured films possess excellent flexi bility and adhesion characteristics over a variety of substrates. Examples of typical coatings that may be prepared from this resin are beer- and beverage-can base coats and rapid-curing coil coatings. The A Series of Poly B-D liquid resins are terpolymers having carboxylic functionality. This additional reactivity may be used to ad vantage as a cross-linking site in addition to that present in the polymer backbone. Strip and coil coatings prepared from these resins have shown outstanding flexibility and fabri cation properties. The typical properties of the Poly B-D liquid resins are listed below:
