A new model of t h e Precision-Freas B.O.D. incubator h a s been designed b y Precision Scientific Co. for close tem perature control a n d uniformity during low t e m p e r a t u r e incubations. T h e cabinet has a range of 5° t o 50° C. with a n accuracy of ± 0 . 5 ° C. Three shelves provide 8V2 square feet of work ing area and additional space is avail able on t w o shelves built into t h e door. Over-all dimensions are 31 X 28 X 60 inches. 2 Electrochemical Apparatus Electrochemical reductions a n d oxida tions can be precisely controlled with a n a p p a r a t u s now produced b y American I n s t r u m e n t Co., Inc. T h e Redox-OTrol u n i t gives a u t o m a t i c control of electrochemical reactions b y controlling either anode or cathode potential. I t has sufficient o u t p u t for preparing selec tive reduction a n d oxidation p r o d u c t s from organic compounds in substantial quantities regardless of load resistance or concentration changes. Redox-O-Trol has been used success fully in t h e preparation of pinacols of p-aminoaeetophenone a n d p-aminopropiophenone, while a t t e m p t s t o prepare (Continued on page 44 A)
