SEPARATION-
SF-1 Fluorispec fluorescence spec trophotometer has two double monochromators which may be scanned au tomatically or manually, covering both the excitation and fluorescent spectra from 220 to 700 m^. There are three spectra slit widths, 2, 8, and 32 m/x available in four locations. Resolu tion is 2 π\μ with smallest slit widths. Optional accessories include a 4-position turret sampler, chromatograph scanner, microsampler, and X-Y re corder. Baird-Atomic, Inc., 33 Uni versity Rd., Cambridge 38, Mass. 420

A building-block concept is the out standing feature of new grating mono chromators and monochromator sys tems now available. System compo nents may be added as desired to per mit many spectroscopic applications including absorption, spectrophotom etry, phosphorimetry, fluorometry, spectrophotofluorometry, and spectrophosphorimetry. The basic system consists of a grating monochromator ( offered with manual or motor driven scanning devices), a slit mechanism, and an optical bench. A series of com ponents may be added to this basic system to meet individual require ments. The instrument is suitable for use in the ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared regions of the spectrum (up to 1200 m^), and is especially well suited for the analysis of low-level luminescence.
