'"PHE Gyco Pyrometer, new member of the Gyco Instrument family, will help lengthen the life of heating jackets and control the processes for which jackets supply heat. Glass fabric heating jackets have a safe operating limit of 400° C. Beyond that point the Fiberglas fabric and insulation rapidly deteriorate. Excessive heat also reduces the life of the elements. With a Gyco Pyrometer there is a visible indication of the heat developed in the jacket. The Gyco Pyrometer is of the iron-constantan type, mounted in a cast aluminum housing, attractively finished in black crackle enamel. The dial, slightly tilted for easy tabletop reading, has a dual scale to 800 ° F . or 405 ° C. The danger point for heating jackets is marked by a red line. A small screw on the face of the dial permits compensation for air temperature. The well-insulated lead from the pyrometer is about 30" long, ending in an " A N " type plug for quick connection to the plug of a Gyco Heating Jacket. (This plug is removable for use with other heating devices.) The price is modest for this type of instrument. In limiting burn-outs the Gyco Pyrometer can save you much more.
