As you might guess, these small columns require small samples. In fact, if you want to get good resolution, you must often inject samples smaller than 5 microliters. The four loop sizes help you cope with the inevitable trade-off between resolution and sensitivity. For higher resolution, a smaller loop. For higher sensitivity, a larger loop. In operation, loops are completely filled,
